on my second glass of milk today. i've been trying to drink a glass of milk everyday. never grew up on it, come on, i'm chinese. we drink soy milk. but i've heard that you stop absorbing calcium in your bones once you hit 30. so, dude, i better get on it. the problem is, one cup of milk is only 35% of your daily calcium need. so somehow, i need to get the other 65% some other way. so i've been on one glass of milk, and one cup of yogurt (25% DV) everyday for a while now, but still that's only 60% of my daily need! it's really hard. so i've just had a brownie. and another glass of milk. and so today, for the first time ever, i'm 95% there. all i need to do is swallow a fish bone tonight, and i'm sure i'll be over 100% DV.
and for those of you who are thinking what i think you might be thinking? i can't take calcium pills. they screw up my tummy.
and on another milk note? i bought homemade soy milk this past weekend from a taiwanese drink store. i bought a gallon of it. and you know what it did over the w/e in our fridge? the entire thing curdled. like curdled into sour tofu, coagulated, gelatinous soy-chunk-solid. it was so fascinating. i almost wanted to eat it to see what it tasted like. it looked so much like sweet tofu - i really don't know how to say it in english - it really looked like dou fu fa. yum.
